Mahesh Bhupathi and Max Mirnyi squandered three match-points in the Super tie-break and crashed out of Open Sud de France, losing a tightly contested match to Ross Hutchins and Stephen Huss, in Montpellier, France, on Thursday.
The top seeded Indo-Belarusian pair lost 6-3, 3-6, 12-14 to the unseeded British-Australian pair in the quarter-finals in 88 minutes.
The top seeds broke their opponents once from the three chances they had to take opening set, but offered too many chances to their opponents in the next set.
They saved three break-points in the second set but one break of serve was enough for Hutchins and Huss to claw their way back in the match.
The Super tie-break was tight and both pairs were 8-8 at one stage.
The top seeds got the first chance to clinch the issue but Huss and Hutchins saved three match-point and converted their second chance to take the match.
