Winning the gold has boosted my confidence for Asiad: Ravinder

He won the first gold in wrestling for India in the Commonwealth Games and Ravinder Singh said it will spur him up to repeat his performance at the Asian Games in Guangzhou, China next month.

Young Ravinder started the gold rush for India, bagging the first yellow metal in wrestling in the 60kg category, beating England's Christopher Terence Bosson 7-2 at the Indira Gandhi Sports Complex.

Moments after achieving the feat, Ravinder said he always had faith on himself.

"I had full faith on myself. I have been practising for past two years. I had confidence that we will win all the 21 medals," he said.

Ravinder"Winning the gold medal in CWG has bolstered my confidence for Asian Cups and other championships. I will look to do well there," he added.

Sanjay, who got the better of South Africa's Brian Richard Addinall 2-0 in the 74kg category to register the second gold for India, said he was always confident that he would win the yellow metal.

"The first two matches were tough but I knew that the gold medal was mine," he said.

Spurred up by the performance of his team-mates, Anil Kumar then clinched the third gold for India when he defeated Hassene Fkiri of Australia 6-0 in the summit clash of the 96kg.

"I am grateful to God. Our Georgian coach is like our lucky charm. His advice on techniques helped us a lot," he said.

"We mixed modern techniques with traditional. After this we will prepare for the Asians and hopefully it will help us to do well," he added.
