For only the second time this season, Force India returned empty handed as Vitantonio Liuzzi and Adrian Sutil finished the German Grand Prix at the 16th and 17th place respectively in Hockenheim on Sunday.

The result also snapped Force India and Sutil's point-spree of the last six races.

Sutil's home GP, he was one of six Germans in the race, thus ended in sheer disappointment.

Points eluded Liuzzi for the third time in a row but he had the satisfaction of moving six places up after starting 22nd on the grid.

Force India's race was compromised in Saturday's qualifying itself when Liuzzi crashed out after an accident and Sutil was handed a five place penalty for changing gearbox between FP3 and qualifying.

There were problems for Force India cars right from the onset as both Sutil and Liuzzi were in the pit lane in the opening lap itself.

Sutil, who began at 17th, needed to change his front wing and took another pit stop after four laps, dropping to 21st spot.

The German though kept pushing hard and by the lap 29 he had moved to number 15. Liuzzi also rose to 17 shortly after the half-way mark in the 67-lap race, which saw five retirements.

A third pit stop pushed Sutil down to 17th and he kept that position till the end.

It was one-two for Ferrari as Fernando Alonso won the Grand Prix and teammate Felipe Massa finished second.

Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel blew away pole position to finish third.

India's Karun Chandhok did not race as he was dropped by his team Hispania Racing for this GP, for whom Bruo Senna finished last and Sakon Yamamoto retired after 19 laps.
