Ferrari's [ Images ] Felipe Massa [ Images ], recovering from serious head injuries, will wave the chequered flag at next week's potentially title-deciding Brazilian Formula One Grand Prix [ Images ], organisers said on Thursday.

They said in a statement that Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo had confirmed the team's acceptance of the invitation.

Massa, whose friend and compatriot Rubens Barrichello [ Images ] is fighting Britain's Jenson Button [ Images ] for the title, will follow other celebrities like Pele and supermodel Gisele Bundchen [ Images ] in waving the flag. Massa won his home race last year.
