Tiger Woods, who has taken an indefinite break from golf after being embroiled in a sex scandal, picked up another golfing honour on Friday when he was named PGA Tour Player of the Year.

Tiger WoodsWoods won the award, voted by his peers on the U.S. Tour, for the 10th time in 13 seasons, despite the recent tabloid revelations about his personal life.

The tour award came a day after Woods was voted Golfer of the Year by the Golf Writers of America, and follows a media storm surrounding a string of extra-marital affairs that culminated in Woods publicly admitting to being unfaithful to his wife.

Marc Leishman was named PGA Tour Rookie of the Year in the voting, becoming the first Australian to claim the award since it was first bestowed in 1990.

Woods, 33, won a tour-best six times in 17 starts with a total of 14 top-10 finishes after returning in February following a long lay-off from knee surgery.

Leishman, 26, posted three top-10 finishes in 2009, and finished tied for second at the BMW Championship in the third leg of the PGA Tour playoffs for the FedExCup.

Tag Heuer to drop Tiger from ads

Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer said on Friday it would not use Tiger Woods, who has admitted to marital infidelity, in its advertising in "certain markets" to respect the golfer's desire for privacy.

"The partnership with Tiger Woods will continue, but we will downscale the use of his image in certain markets for a period of time, depending on his decision about returning to professional golf," Tag Heuer's Chief Executive Jean-Christophe Babin said in a statement.

The company, a unit of LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, said it was standing by the world's No. 1 golfer, who last week said he was taking an indefinite break from pro golf.

Babin told the Swiss daily Le Matin that the company would no longer use Woods' image in its US advertising for an indefinite period, preferring to use other celebrities like actor Leonardo DiCaprio.

"We must take into account the sensitivity of some consumers in relation to recent events," the paper quoted Babin as saying.

Tag Heuer, which previously said it was assessing its relationship with Woods, became the latest company to distance itself from the golfer.

On Sunday, Accenture ended its endorsement deal with Woods, and Procter & Gamble's Gillette has dropped him from its marketing. AT&T has said it is assessing its relationship with Woods.

Tag Heuer said it would continue to support the Tiger Woods Foundation.
