The Pakistan Tennis Federation will seek compensation from the ITF for making their Davis Cup rubber against Hong Kong an away tie due to the volatile security situation in Karachi.

After returning from a meeting of the Asian Tennis Federation, PTF president Dilawar Abbas said the ATF also supported Pakistan's move to seek compensation.

The tie against Hong Kong was due to be held next March in Lahore but the ITF has shifted the matches to Hong Kong due to the volatile security situation in Pakistan.

This is the third time this year that Pakistan has lost a chance to host a Davis Cup tie due to security concerns.

Earlier this year, Pakistan's Davis Cup tie against Oman was also shifted to Muscat and the ties against Philippines were moved to Manila.

As per ITF Davis Cup committee rules Pakistan automatically loses choice of surface with the shifting of the venue, and the same thing has happened in the case of their matches against Hong Kong.

"We have suffered an estimated loss of $50,000 due to the shifting of the Davis Cup matches and we intend to seek compensation from the ITF," Abbas said.

He said Pakistan had also talked about compensation with the ITF over the shifting of the Davis Cup ties against Oman and Phillipines but this time the positive thing was that the ATF was supporting Pakistan.
