India [ Images ] had a mixed day at the US $50,000 ATP Challenger event in Tallahassee as Prakash Amritraj [ Images ] advanced to the second round but Somdev Devvarman [ Images ] crashed out of the tournament.

Amritraj had to dig deep into his reserves to beat local wild card Michael McClune 6-7 (3), 7-5, 7-6 (3) in his opening round.

He will meet another American and fourth seed Vincent Spadea in the pre-quarterfinals.

India's top ranked player Somdev made an early exit after losing his first round match 3-6, 3-6 against Australian Marinkc Matosevic.
