Terming the attack on Bharatiya Janata Party corporator Amit Shah an 'internal fight', the party's Gujarat unit on Thursday brushed the incident aside and said it will not affect its poll prospects.
"The attack on Amit Shah was an internal fight and had nothing to do with the distribution of tickets," spokesman Nalin Bhat said. "This incident has not tainted the image of the party and will not affect the outcome of the polls in the constituency."
He also asserted that the party high command's decision to field Bhavin Sheth from Sarkhej assembly constituency is final.
Amit Shah, a BJP corporator from Sarkhej, was attacked on Wednesday night by three other BJP men, reportedly disgruntled supporters of former minister of state for revenue Haren Pandya. He sustained stab wounds, though his condition is said to be stable.
