World No. 17 Sofia Polcanova beat India's Manika Batra 4-0 in 3rd round to book a spot in the last 16.

Batra lost 8-11, 2-11, 5-11, 7-11 in a lop-sided contest.

She was totally dominated by her higher-ranked opponent in a match that lasted 27 minutes.

Sharath Kamal is the lone Indian left in the fray in table tennis singles.

Batra has just no answers to Pulcanova's game and falls short yet again, losing the fourth game 7-11 and with that she loses 0-4 to be knocked out of the Olympics.

There is no relenting from the Austrian World No 17 as she takes the 3rd game 11-5 to go 3-0 up against Manika.

Batra needs to up her game to survive in this contest. The quality of table tennis on show from the Austrian is of another level altogether!

Batra loses 2-11 after a lopsided 2nd game. Polcanova gave the Indian no chance to settle and won the 2nd game in just 4 minutes.

The left-handed Polcanova takes the first game 11-8. Batra tested the World No. 17 but in the battle of nerves, the Austrian held hers to take a 1-0 lead.
