Mary beat Tunisia's Maroua Rahali 15-6

India's MC Mary Kom won an Olympic medal on her debut when she beat Maroua Rahali of Tunisia 15-6 at the London Olympics, on Monday.



The victory took Mary to the semi-finals and she is assured of at least a bronze medal.

Quarter-finals: Women's boxing, 51kg flyweight category

Round 1:

Mary Kom off to a slow start, looking to study her opponent. But she has managed to land a couple of punches on the spot to earn a narrow 2-1 lead in the opening round.



Mary was also cautioned a couple of times in that round. She needs to be careful in the following rounds.



Round 2:

Mary now looking comfortable and has built her lead in that round. She is defending well and is timing her punches quite well.



Mary slips and falls to the ground but her score continues to rise as her lead grows to 5-3 in that round.



Round 3:

Mary is proving to be unstoppable at the moment. A combination of punches lands her opponent on the ropes as Mary is growing in confidence.



That round totally belonged to Mary, who took six points in that round as compared to her oppponent's one.

The lead is now 11-4 in favour of Mary.

Round 4:

Just 2 minutes separate Mary Kom from a historic Olympic medal. That round also belonged to the Indian, who has now been assured of atleast a bronze medal at the London Olympics.
