The Channel [V] Awards Chat

The winner of the Channel [V] competition for one of the contestants who selected the correct winner of the viewers choice award. She has won a trip to the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas along with Colonial Cousins, the band she helped send to the awards.

Meanwhile, more on Mukul Anand... who, in course of a brief visit to the media centre here, was telling us that over a shared cup of coffee with Amitabh Bachchan recently, they decided to go on holiday - en famille - to Mauritius. With them will be producer Romesh Sharma and family - which leads to the sneaky suspicion - I mean, star, producer, director all together in Mauritius - that they are going to be working together shortly. Anand, in fact, does not deny such a possibility. But for now, he is busy with his movie Dus - for which no less than Lucky Ali is singing playback for Shah Rukh Khan. Interestingly, Anand's film has about a dozen songs, and about the same number of composers tuning them. And this - many cooks in the musical broth - is, Anand swears, the way of the future...

Ah, well... when rock legends perform, the rest is anti-climax... and Plant and Page are the ultimate icons, right? So... for those who want to relive the nostalgia of the seventies...

That was one dumb move, guys, as far as the V crowd is concerned. The flip side of featuring Led Zepp half an hour before the show is just showing - most of the crowds already walked out;the stands are looking deserted. Even the condom balloons are beginning to loose their zing and settle all over the stadium.

Yesterday, at the Full Dress Rehearsal and this is what they had to say. Hari: "Nine awards? We've been nominated for nine awards? I don't even know the categories in which we have been nominated." Lezz: "I think I know one of the categories. Aren't we nominated for best packaging?" Hari: "That's for Magnasound. But then, I think if we are nominated for nine categories, we will win in at least 2 or 3." Lezz: The thing is, the awards don't really matter. It'll be nice to win but what's more encouraging is the fact that we have been nominated. We've already won the MTV Viewer's Choice Award. That was great. It will be nice if we could win something here too." Hari: "What's important is the fact that we are performing live. That's what we enjoy the most. That's what we are going to be doing at night - with Krishna."

Alisha who is in Srilanka accepted the award via satelitte..saying she is with us in spirit...a BIG STEP TO GET THE FREDDY MERCURY LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD. By now thw crowd is fast dwindling..the lights are slowly dimming...I guess the BIG DAY IS COMING TO AN END...I SEE IT NEARING AS Tarun tahlini and Mehar jessia walk on to the stage...the Nominees for the BEST POP ALBUM INTERNATIONAL ARE....WHO'S THE WINNER?/In just a moment now...STING....WE KNEW IT ALL ALONG, STING"i WANT TO CONGRATULATE CHANNEL V FOR HOSTING THE FIRST AWARD IN INDIA" HE APOLOGISED FOR not being there..bY THE WAY HE WON THE AWARD FOR THE SONG 'MERCURY FALLING'. There are a few people remaining...the stage is dark andand the remainder of the crowd wonders...is it gonna end?

FOR ALL YOU MUSIC MANIACS..THE SHOW HAS REACHED IT'S LAST LEG...AND ALL THE VJ'S ARE ON THE STAGE DOING.....YOU GUESSED IT THE MACARENA...It's what everyone needs a good beat to unwind to. However, it seems to be a completely low key rendition of the dance with the vjs facing eachother because they don't know the steps very well!

What's this guys ..seems like the shows come to an end...what? no bang? No hungama?..PRETTY ABRUPT IF I MAY SAY SO.. BUT THAT'S IT FOR THE CHANNEL V GUYS, THE TIME: 1.10...AND IF YOU WANTED AN INCLINATION AS TO WHAT WAS GOING ON BACKSTAGE - strictly off-limits for everyone except the performers - it was crazy. Things were changing every minute. Nobody knew what was happening but the VJs are grateful they could pull the whole thing off. The only plus point - the whole thing was looking great on TV.
