Hello, Is Madan Lal here yet ? He was one hell of a gritty player. I can remember , it was always a lot of fun seeing Binny and Madan Lal fighting it out at the crease .. Gutsy player

Isn't it strange that they haven't found a spot of Joshi, Ganesh, Wasim Jaffer or even Amol Mazumdar. And then there are spots for players unheard of.

With regards to the team to Lanka, has it been anounced yet ?

whats this 27 probables deal ? Can Joshi, Ganesh, Wasim Jaffer be that far off from selection to the Indina team ? Thats what the probables seem tot suggest ..

ravi I will endorse that. Madanlal was a gutsy player all right, but he hasn't displayed any of his guts as the manager of the side. The team is in total disarray, and it's time he came up with the goodies.

The selectors need to be well established cricket players who have a knowledge of the current game and what it takes to play at the highest level. Only Shivlal Yadav fits that bill to some extent. Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri, Kapil Dev, Srikkanth, etc. are the kinds of selectors we need.

Hey guys, heard of the 14 selected! vow what a strange country we are..

It is suggested that the final 16 will be selected from the 27 probables partaking in the trials at Bangalore. That in effect means no Ganesh, Joshi et al. Unless ofcourse, the selectors have their usual element of surprises.

Before you ask, the team to Lanka is as follows: Tendulkar, Ganguly, Dravid, Prasad, Kuruvilla, Jadeja, Kumble, Azharuddin, Sidhu, Karim, Nilesh Kulkarni, Noel David, Robin Singh Senior (the TN chappie, not the Delhi one) and Debashish Mohanty.

The selectors are to meet again in Bombay on July 24, to make changes in the lineup for the tests against Lanka, and to pick two more players to make up the complement of 16.

Meanwhile, one other thing. I am in Bangalore and when Madan gets here, I will be doing the typing for him, so I will not be chatting with you guys at the same time, oka? Will try and sta back for a bit after he leaves, in case you have any questions...

How come, mongia doesn't find a place in the team ? Is it because of the one-dayers, they prefer to have a batsman-wk ? Who is Debashish Mohanty ?

nope...I am just nobody. But MAJOR cricket fan.(it's 2 at night here, if you don't believe me)

Manish: Desai said that Karim is being preferred for the one dayers as he is a better batsman, and that the wicketkeeper's berth will be reevaluated when the side for the tests is being picked. \ Jayesh... the big man has more appointments and engagements than IK Gujral, but he will be here...in I think about 20 minutes from now.

Nilesh Kulkarni and Debashish Mohanty ?? Can someone fill me in on what they do ? What did Kambli do to get axed ?

Manish>> DEbashish MOhanty is a young medium pacer from Orissa, played for India A in the SAARC tournament in Lanka earlier, and did okay in the Ranji games.

Manish - Mohanty is orissan medium-pacer..I think played U-19 against Sri-Lanka.22 wkts at 26.86 in Ranji last year

By the way I recently got access to Shaid Afridi's 37 ball hundred against Lanka, we need a couple of players who can wallop the ball like that

Hotu and the rest>> If you want something to do to occupy your time, try to draw up the final eleven - keeping in mind the fact that Desai says SIX batsmen will play at all times. *grin* Love to see what you come up with as the playing eleven, given that clause.

Prem - Seen Sanjay Raul bowl? I haven't , but did well s U-19 captain and great figures in Ranji .37 wickets at 20.59 + mega bonus with 644 uns at average of 49.54 (of-spinner, Orissa captain)

Prem - Does Robin 'count' as a batsman?

Are we talking of the one dayers or the Tests, Prem?

What about that Agarkar guy from Bombay ? heard that he was also an impressive bowler, and a fast one too. I hope that the two new bowlers get a chance to play instead of having to contest for the honor of pushing in the drink trolley.
