Canada were set to score a mammoth 364 and nobody believed that they would get anywhere close. The rediff.com expert didn't think Canada would go too far past 150.

Canada therefore set out with a pressure index (PI) of 189. They could just as well have come out to chase the moon.

But, amazingly, Davison believed that it still wasn't a bridge too far. As Canada raced to 52/0 in 5 overs, Fleming had that slightly bewildered expression on his face.

Davison perished at the ten-over mark at 74/1. But he showed that there was no devil in the pitch; or in the Kiwis attack when Bond isn't playing.

Barnett briefly assumed the run-scoring mantle, and then Bagai.

The score after 30 overs was a healthy 162/2. But the PI was 147 because Canada still needed 200 more at 10-an-over.

Eventually the Canadian challenge petered out. NZ must be surprised and worried that they could take just 2 wickets at the 35-over mark.
