President Pervez Musharraf on Friday said his government would track down those involved in the "gruesome" murder of kidnapped Wall Street Journal staffer Daniel Pearl.
He said he has directed the government of Sindh province "to apprehend each and every member of the gang of terrorists involved in this gruesome murder."
Musharraf expressed "heartfelt condolences" to the reporter's widow Mariane Pearl, his family and his editors at The Wall Street Journal.
US officials have denounced the killing of the Mumbai-based correspondent.
"Those who would threaten Americans, those who would engage in criminal, barbaric acts, need to know that these crimes only hurt their cause and only deepen the resolve of the United States of America to rid the world of these agents of terror," President George W Bush said in Beijing.
