Fast FactsThe Banjara camp, located at the Barseri village, is eight kilometres from Sangla on the Baspa river. It is open between April and November. It is equipped with every modern amenity, including a laundry room, western-style toilets, snacks, warm beds and first aid. They serve good food and arrange treks. This area is famous for its saffron, its apples, its pink ogla flowers and its bhoj patra. Bhoj patra is fine paper made from special layers of bark and used for writing religious manuscripts. And the seeds of ogla are ground into flour. Nearby is the Kamru fort, once the palace of Kinnaur kings. The Himachal Tourism maintains a camp site in the middle of the village of Sangla which has decent tents and provides meals.
