Fast FactsHow to get thereIndian Airlines flies thrice a week to Leh from New Delhi. And during the busy summer season flights go daily from New Delhi. Book weeks, if not months in advance. It is also possible to reach Manali by bus from New Delhi or Chandigarh. From there take either the private or government road tansport operated buses to Leh (an arduous journey for which you have to come well prepared). Journey time: two days with an overnight camping stop in Sarchu. Another option is to reach Srinagar by road or air. And then take J & K Road Transport bus service to Leh, with an overnight stop in Kargil. Where to stayA wide range of hotels and low cost guest houses are open during the main tourist season from June to September. Accommodation needs to be arranged well in advance for visits outside these months. There is a wide choice of moderately priced and budget hotels but bookings must be made in advance during the July-August high season. It is best to write to them. Try:
