Spice Village a very pretty private resort located on the Thekkadi-Kumily road, tel # 04869-22315, 04869-22317. Bookings can be done through Casino Hotel in Cochin too. The village consists of thatched cottages furnished in pine, overlooking a spice plantation. The resort has a nice restaurant, a pool and is very green and serene.

If you want to stay in the park try to book a room at the Forest Rest House. Government run, with simple lodging facilities it has an ideal location. Must book in advance. Or book the luxury suites at the Lake Palace Annexe which is a part of the Aranya Nivas guest house. However rooms are rather expensive. Otherwise try Aranya Nivas guest house. Call 04869-2023.

Another interesting option for the intrepid is an overnight stay at one of the forest watchtowers. Contact the Forest Department office at the lake. Open 09.00 to 17.00. However you will need to come equipped with full camping gear.

Food at the Spice Village is good but for variety have meals at other hotels too. Meals at the Coffee Inn on the Thekkadi-Kurmily road are tasty.
