Indian Davis Cupper Rohan Bopanna [ Images ] and his Finnish partner Jarko Nieminin advanced to the second round of the men's doubles round at the Australian Open [ Images ], defeating the Spanish pair of Marcel Granollers [ Images ] and Sanitago Ventura 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 in Melbourne [ Images ] on Friday.
Bopanna and Nieminin needed an hour and 13 minutes to dump their opponents.
Bopanna is third Indian to reach the second round in the event, joining Leander Paes [ Images ] and Mahesh Bhupathi [ Images ].
The Indo-Finnish pair will next face Nicolas Lapentti [ Images ] of Ecuador and Tommy Robredo [ Images ] of Spain in the second round.
