Women heptathletes J J Pramila and Sushmita Singha Roy qualified for Olympic Games by bettering the 'A' standard at the National Jumps and Combined Events in Bangalore on Friday.

Their qualification swells the number of Beijing-bound Indians in the event to three.

On second day of the competition, Jharkhand's Pramila came up with a brilliant performance to aggregate 6078 points. Bengal's Sushmita Singha Roy, who secured 6027 points, followed her, attaining the above 'A' qualifying mark of 6000 points.

J J Shobha had already qualified for Olympics in the same event by clearing the 'A' standard.

A maximum of three 'A' standard qualified athletes can represent a country in an Olympic event.

"I am very happy to have secured the standard," said Pramila after her gold-winning effort.

In the women's long jump, Beijing-bound Anju Bobby George repeated her season's best performance with a leap of 6.55 metres to win gold.

With today's two qualifications, the total number of athletes who have qualified for Beijing has gone up to 16.

The middle and long distance athletes who are presently in the United Kingdom have the last chance to qualify for the Olympics in Manchester on Saturday.

The last date for achieving the qualifying standard for the Olympics is  July 23.
