Jeev climbs to second in Jakarta

Jeev Milkha Singh raised hopes of ending his 15-month long title drought with a splendid five-under 65 moving him to tied second spot after the third round of the Enjoy Jakarta Astro Indonesia Open.

Compatriot Arjun Atwal also had a made his way up the leader board with a fine 66 and was tied 10th with a round to go.

The other Indians in the field -- Jyoti Randhawa, Gaurav Ghei and Shiv Kapur -- also returned sub-par rounds.

With a total of 14-under 196, Jeev and China's Liang Wen-Chong trail Chilean Felipe Aguilar by two strokes. The Indian is in a good position to challenge for his first title since November 2006.

Aguilar managed to maintain his overnight lead with a solid three-under 67 on Saturday.

Jeev, the 2006 UBS Asian Tour Order of Merit winner, was in his element on the front nine picking up birdies on the fifth, seventh, eighth and ninth holes.

He dropped a stroke on the 13th but came back with birdies on the 15th and 18th as he climbed from his overnight sixth position.

Atwal's 66 followed his consecutive 67s in the first two rounds and helped him rise from tied 14th. He made birdies on the fourth, eighth, ninth, 11th and 17th and a lone bogey on the 16th in the penultimate round.

The highest ranked Indian golfer in the world, Randhawa also carded an impressive 66, which helped him climb from tied 45th to tied 28th with a total of six-under 204.

Ghei (67) and Kapur (69) are tied 37th at five-under 205.
