China thumped minnows Thailand 13-0 while Bangladesh overcame Sri Lanka 3-2 in Pool B league matches of the seventh BSNL Asia Cup men's hockey tournament in Chennai on Monday.

Penalty corner specialist and captain Hu Hui Ren slammed in six goals, including a field goal, while Lu Feng Hui, Meng Jun and Yu Yang struck a brace each in China's victory.

The aggressive Chinese side dominated the proceedings to garner a 7-0 lead at half-time and pumped in another six goals as the Thai players went through the motion.

The margin would have been much bigger had it not been for some valiant clearances by Thai goalkeeper Rachan Suwanmanee.

It was a pathetic sight to see the Thai players failing to hold on to the ball for even a couple of minutes and after the gruelling 70 minutes they found relief at the blow of the final hooter.

Sri Lanka did well to recover from the humiliating 0-20 loss against India on Saturday to rally from a one goal deficit to level scores 1-1 at break against Bangladesh.

However, Bangladesh shot into the lead against with Md Mamun making no mistake of a penalty stroke and then converting a penalty corner to post a 3-1 lead before wrapping up the match. Rasel Mahmud and Md Zahidul Islam were the other scorers for Bangladesh while Panditharathne netted one for Lanka.

Both Sri Lanka and Thailand are out of contention for the semis as both of them suffered their third straight loss.
