Rohan Bopanna enjoyed mixed luck at the US $100,000 ATP Tour Challenger event in Scheveningen, Holland, biting the dust in the singles but tasting success in doubles on Tuesday.
Bopanna, playing as special exempt following his title success in a grass court Challenger event in Ireland last week, found the red clay a bit difficult to adjust to and went down 2-6, 4-6 to Belgium's Christophe Rochus in the first round.
But the Coorgi lad and partner Pablo Cuevas of Uruguay lived up to their billing, recording a straight sets victory in the first round of doubles.
The second seeded combination defeated local wild cards Frank Clausing and Boy Wijnmalen 6-3, 6-3 to move into the second round.
Meanwhile, Prakash Amritraj entered the main draw of the US $416,000 Hall of Fame Tennis Championships at Newport, Rhode Island.
Amritraj rolled over Scott Lipsky of United States, winning 6-4, 6-3 in the final qualifying round to book a first round clash against Serbian Ilia Bozoljac.
The Indian had earlier defeated second seed Robert Smeets of Australia 7-6(6), 7-5 in the second round and Ridrvigo Grilli of Brazil 7-6(5), 6-1 in the first round of the qualifying draw.
Amritraj will partner Pakistan's Wimbledon sensation Aisam Qureshi in the doubles.
The wild card entrants will take on top seeds Wesley Moodie of South Africa and Frenchman Fabrice Santoro in the first round.
