India won two gold medals, three silver and a bronze on the final day of the Asian Shooting Championship in Kuwait on Wednesday to finish with a tally of 6-11-12 but did not bag a single Olympic quota place at the event.

The medal count was less than the haul of 10-4-4 earned in the last edition at Kuala Lumpur in 2004, where India also won five Olympic quota places.

Sorab Singh won the gold medal in junior men's skeet by top-scoring with 133 (111+22) points, in the process helping the team win the yellow metal with the contribution of Sheeraj Sheikh (105) and Man Singh (103).

Sanjeev Rajput, an Olympic quota holder, fetched the silver medal in senior men's 50m Rifle 3 Position event, scoring 1263.8 (1165+98.8).

The team of Rajput, Imran Hasan Khan (1150) and Gagan Narang (1145) won the bronze medal in the event.

In the centre fire pistol event, Vijay Kumar won the silver medal after a tie-shoot. He won the medal with a score of 582/600. The Indian team also won silver with contributions from Kumar, Samresh Jung (576) and Pushpender Singh (575).

However, India's skeet shooters disappointed with their below-par scores.

The next edition of the Asian shooting championships will be staged in Qatar in 2011.
