Saina Nehwal continued her rapid rise in world badminton as she gained 11 spots to reach a career best ranking of number 30.

This should provide the Hyderabad teenager a major boost for the World Championships in Madrid starting September 18 where she will take the court as the highest ranked Indian shuttler.

Saina has been in good form in recent tournaments and has recorded some commendable results in the Korea Open and Hong Kong Open.

She reached the pre-quarterfinals at Seoul losing to Soratja Chansrisukot of Thailand but avenged the defeat in the first round at Hong Kong.

She then dished out a gritty display before going down to world number one Zhang Ning of China in the next round.

The Indian yougster has experienced a breakthrough year on the international circuit and became the first Indian woman to win a four star grand prix event at the Philippines Open.

After that title, Saina climbed a staggering 34 places to number 55 before attaining her previous best of 41 last week. Trupti Murgunde (78) and Aditi Mutatakar (106) are the next two Indians in the rankings.

The latter jumped 26 places from the last charts. In the men's side, Chetan Anand slipped two rungs down to 24th while national champions Anup Sridhar held on to number 36.

Arvind Bhat maintained his 49th place. P Kashyap continued his upward march and gained 31 places to take 65th position. He had cleared 17 heads to break into the top 100 in the last rankings.
