A dodgy wrist may have prevented Jeev Milkha Singh from earning a second successive title, but his second place finish at Fukuoka on the Japanese Tour helped him climb four places to 73 in the latest world golf rankings.
The Chandigarh player, who has two victories on the European Tour this season, including the season-ending Volvo Masters at Valderrama, Spain, was the first Indian to break into the top-100 when he won the elite tournament a week ago.
He had earlier won the Volvo China Open and impressive results on the tour took him to 16th place in the European Tour Order of Merit.
Among Jeev's compatriots, Jyoti Randhawa, who won the Hero Honda Indian Open and BILT Open in successive weeks, gained two places to move to 103.
Another good result can see him join Jeev in the top 100 in the world rankings.
Shiv Kapur returned to the top-200 club when he climbed seven spots to 196th in the charts.
Gaurav Ghei gained three places to 226th.
However, Arjun Atwal, who failed to make it to secure a USPGA Tour card for 2007 and will have to go through qualifying school, slid four places to 249th spot.
Tiger Woods, who is taking a well-deserved break from the game, continues to lead the field by a huge margin, followed by compatriots Jim Furyk and Phil Mickelson.
Australia's Adam Scott, who won the Tour Championships on Sunday, and Vijay Singh complete the top five.
