Gaurav Ghei was the lone Indian to shoot an under-par round of 71 in the final to finish tied 12th while Lu Wei-chih of Chinese Taipei claimed his maiden title by two strokes after carding a final round of two-over-par 74 at the USD 400,000 Mercuries Taiwan Masters on Sunday.

Shiv Kapur (74) who seemed to have put himself in line for an excellent finish after a fine front nine, shot a four-over on the backstretch and ended tied 18th at five-over for the week.

While Ghei's improvement on final day from 27th to 12th was the best among the Indians, Uttam Singh Mundy (74) also moved from 27th to 21st. Harmeet Kahlon with a par round rose from 45th to 29th, while Arjun Singh, who was tied 21st after three rounds had an error-filled final round of 78 and dropped to tied 35th.

The 27-year-old Lu held his nerve to claim the top honours at Taiwan Golf and Country Club's Tamsui course, his home base, with a tournament total of four-under-par 284 and earned USD 79,112.

Compatriot Lin Wen-tang also shot a 74 for second place. Only six players played to par or under totals for four days.

Australian Kurt Barnes, playing in his rookie year in Asia, was in the thick of battle with an outward 34 for the outright lead but stumbled badly on the back nine with two bogeys and one triple bogey for a 74 and shared third place on 287 with two-time former winner Lu Wen-teh, who carded a 76 and Lu Wei-lan (73), who is Wei-chih's older brother.
