Paresh Mhatre claims Mr. Mumbai title

Paresh Mhatre of Matoshree Sports Club was adjudged the Champion of Champions in the Optimum Nutritions Mr. Mumbai Body Building Championship that was held at the Shivai Gymnasium ground, Matoshree Sports Club, Andheri, on Wednesday.

Paresh MhatreMhatre's all-round performance helped him pip six other strong contenders in a close Champion of Champions round.

The district level championship, the city's most prestigious body building competition, was organised by the Mumbai Suburban Body Building & Fitness Association and the Mumbai Body Building Association under the auspices of the Indian Body Building Federation.

While Mhatre also bagged the 75kgs title, the other six weight category winners were Niwas Sawant (Pep Fitness, 55kg), Arun Patil (Shiv Samrat, 60kg), Dinesh Pawar (R.M. Bhatt, 65kg), Dashrath Dalvi (Gawli Fitness, 70kg), Prashant Salunkhe (Arogyadham, 80kg) and Mandar Chawarakar (Gawli Fitness, 80kgs & above).

Dashrath Dalvi was named the Best Poser, while Prashant Salunkhe was the Most Improved Body Builder.

Prakash Koyande, the legendary nine-time former Mr. India winner, was felicitated on the occasion.

55kgs: 1. Niwas Sawant (Pep Fitness), 2. Dinesh Kambli (Pathare Gym), 3. Raju Gurve (Sachin Fitness), 4. Raj Gupta (Gurudatt), 5. Prakash Sawant (Gawde Brothers), 6. Anand Sawardekar (Pathare Gym).

60kgs: 1. Arun Patil (Shiv Samrat), 2. Bhalchandra Gaekwad (Personal), 3. Manoj More (Balmitra), 4. Suresh Khaire (Gupta Gym), 5. Sunil Jhore (BPT), 6. Amit Salvi (R.M. Bhatt).

65kgs: 1. Dinesh Pawar (R.M. Bhatt), 2. Sachin Patil (Shivneri), 3. Anil Bailu (SGS), 4. Mangesh Mhatre (Pinnacle Gym), 5. Ganesh Devadiga (Pinnacle Gym), 6. Bhaskar Kambli (Sadhna Fitness).

70kgs: 1. Dashrath Dalvi (Gawli Fitness), 2. Satish Rahate (SGS), 3. Kailash Mhatre (Shree Ganesh), 4. Sunil Jadhav (BPT), 5. Pramod Kumar Singh (Sam Fitness), 6. Sushil Murkar (R.M. Bhatt).

75kgs: 1. Paresh Mhatre (Matoshree), 2. Vishwanath Gawde (R.M Bhatt), 3. Sandeep Kawde (Gurudatt), 4. Ranjit Kadam (Pinnacle Gym), 5. Santosh Darge (Personal), 6. Nasir Kazi (Salem Gym).

80kgs: 1. Prashant Salunkhe (Arogyadham), 2. Ajay Chaukekar (Shree Ganesh), 3. Prasad Chavan (SGS), 4. Jivesh Shetty (Social Service), 5. Yuvraj Wagh (Pathare), 6. Asish Shivalkar (R.M. Bhatt).

80kgs & above: 1. Mandar Chawarakar (Gawli Fitness), 2. Vrushad Khambote (IGS), 3. Shekhar Bhoir (Shree Ganesh), 4. Aijaz Davar (Ideal), 5. Deepak Tripathi (Shivneri), 6. Ganesh Urankar (Arogyadham).
