Russia's Igor Andreev powered to a 7-5, 6-2 win over home favourite and third seed Rafael Nadal in the Valencia Open quarter-finals in Valencia on Friday.
The number seven seed ended Nadal's impressive run of form to book a semi-final against qualifier Ivan Navarro Pastor of Spain at the 340,000 euro ($435,800) claycourt tournament.
Navarro Pastor fought back from a set down to knock out second seed Fernando Gonzalez of Chile 6-7, 6-4, 6-4 in a fiercely disputed quarter-final earlier on Friday.
The other quarter-finals were postponed until Saturday because of rain.
Spain's Alberto Martin, who dealt a humbling 6-2, 6-0 defeat to Brazil's Gustavo Kuerten in the last round, will meet fellow countryman David Ferrer and former French Open champion Albert Costa will face last year's winner Fernando Verdasco.
