Germany win Hamburg Masters

A penalty-corner goal in injury time gave World champions Germany a 3-2 victory over Pakistan and the title in the Hamburg Masters men's field hockey tournament in Hamburg, Germany, on Sunday.

Argentina drew with South Korea 5-5 and finished third in the four-nation tournament.

Christoph Bechmann put the Germans ahead, converting an early penalty stroke for Germany but Nadeem Mohammed put Pakistan on level terms with a field goal in the dying minutes of the first half.

Penalty-corner ace Sohail Abbas put Pakistan ahead on resumption in the second session from a penalty-corner before Bjorn Emmerling drew parity for the Germans eight minutes from time.

It was Germany's third win over Pakistan in a week, having beaten the Asian giants 3-1 and 2-1 in Test matches in Berlin last Sunday and Monday.

Florian Kunz clinched the issue for Germany in the dying seconds from a penalty-corner.

Pakistan and Germany meet again next Saturday in the first match of the Rabobank four-nation tournament in Amsterdam which also involves India and Netherlands.
