Easy first round for Bhattacharya

Men's top seed Ritwik Bhattacharya outclassed Chandan Jadhav in straight games to enter the second round in the Rs 600,000 Herald Maritime All India Open Squash Championships in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Joining Bhattacharya, who carved out a facile 15-8, 15-1, 15-4 victory, in round two was Junaid Nathani, another Mumbai player, who ousted Kabir Kapoor 15-8, 15-7, 15-3.

In the under-19 boys' section, number one seed Rushab Vora trounced another local player Harish Poddar in straight games to storm into the second round.

Vora whipped Poddar 15-1, 15-5, 15-12. He was joined in round two by Delhi's Naresh Kumar, who had to wage a tough fight to beat Aditya Shastri 15-10, 15-13, 17-14, and fourth seed Ritesh Sharma, who ousted Deepak Singh 15-3, 15-1, 15-3.
