Australian captain George Gregan congratulated England on delivering under pressure after they became the first northern hemisphere team to win the rugby World Cup today.
England defeated the defending champions 20-17 in a dramatic final with a drop goal by Jonny Wilkinson seconds from the end of extra time.
"Congratulations must be extended to England, they delivered under pressure and they delivered when it counted," Gregan said.
"But I'm so proud of my guys, we gutsed it out, we fought back, we brought it back to extra time.
