Top seed Archana Venkataraman and No. 1 junior Isha Lakahani continued their dominant form to win their second round matches in the $5,000 ITF women's tournament at the DLTA Complex on Wednesday.

Unseeded Priyanka Parekh, who had upstaged Chirsant Rajur in her first round match on Tuesday, was at the receiving end today, with Archana whizzing past her 6-2, 6-2.

In another straight set demolition, teenage sensation Lakahani beat Sandhya Nagraj 6-2, 6-1.

All the matches, save one, of the day proved to be one-sided affairs.

Under the hot Delhi sun, Madhura Ranganathan and Sheetal Gautam sweated it out for three sets. Madhura won the first set 6-1 and it seemed that even this would get over in the next game. Gautam, however, had other plans. She came back to win the second set 6-2 and take her opponent to the decider.

Madhura her nerve better in the all important tie-break of the third set to win it 7-6 (7-5) and take the match.

In other matches, the tournament's lone victorious foreigner Korea's Jung-Yoon Shin beat seventh seed Preeti Rao 6-2, 6-3, while third seed Liza Pereira disposed off Lata Assudani 7-5, 6-1.

Also progressing into the next round, M Kamini and sixth seed Ankita Bhambri overcame Sagarika Phadke and T Yamini 6-0, 6-3 and 6-2, 6-1 respectively, while fifth seed Shruti Dhawan beat Pallavi Sharma 6-0, 6-3.
