Mohun Bagan club has asked its football coach Subrata Bhattacharya to show cause for making 'objectionable' comments about the club's executive committee members.

The decision was taken at the club's emergency executive committee meeting, convened to discuss Bhattacharya's comments over the past few days, which has sparked off discontent among the officials.

"The committee decided to show cause to Bhattacharya and asked him to reply in black and white within 21 days. He will also have to personally appear before the committee and clarify his letter," club general secretary Anjan Mitra told PTI.

Mitra said Bhattacharya had in the past accused a top club official of indulging in "sabotage" against the club.

"Moreover, his recent comments, saying that he does not care about the club's executive committee members other than the president, secretary and the football convenor have also created resentment," he said.

All the executive committee members, save Mitra and football convenor, had boycotted the condolence meeting, organised by the club on Saturday to mourn the death of Krishanu Dey, in protest against Bhattacharya's comments.

Mitra, however, said that the members regretted their decision, saying it was a 'historic mistake' on their part not to have attended the solemn occasion.
