Australian cueist Neil Robertson capped a successful month by winning the IBSF World Under-21 snooker championship in Taupo, in New Zealand, yesterday.

The 21-year-old from Melbourne, who was earlier in the month granted a concession to play on world snooker's main Tour in the coming season, beat China's 19-year-old Liu Song by 11 frames to five [63-39, 115(115)-0, 141(137)-0, 111(88)-1, 6-64, 126(126)-0, 39-80(80), 94-16, 14-97(78), 34-75; 71(65)-16, 50-69(63), 80-6, 78-6, 56-16, 64-24] in the final at the Great Lake Centre.

After winning the first frame 63-39, the Aussie displayed precision break-building, as he rattled up breaks of 115, 137, 88 and 126 in the following frames to establish a 5-1 lead.

Song, a quarter-finalist last year, rallied with breaks of 78 and 80 to reduce the deficit to 4-6 by the end of the first session.

But from 7-5, Robertson, a two-time Australian under-21 champion, dominated the match as he reeled off the last four frames to win with much to spare.
