The Motor Sports Association of India approached the Delhi High Court Wednesday accusing its rival the Federation of Motorsports Club of India of causing hindrance in organising races in the country.
Justice Manmohan Sarin issued notice to FMSCI on an application by MSAI seeking to restrain the rival association from addressing any communications to any authority or body which allegedly impairs its effort in promoting and organizing motor races in India.
MSAI's counsel Rajiv Nayar, submitted that to cause hindrance in the functioning of MSAI, the rival association has been communicating with other authorities spreading false and frivolous allegations.
MSAI alleged that FMSCI attempted to jeopardise the international rally in Bangalore on December 6 to 8, 2002 by writing to Chennai customs asking it refuse the grant of clearance for imported cars for the rally, in which foreign competitors had also submitted their entries.
The counsel submitted that FMSCI through frivolous allegations had objected to customs from clearing the cars which was done after officials of MSAI from Mumbai rushed to Chennai and explained the department that the cars were legally imported and would be re-exported after the events.
FMSCI counsel said MSAI was not recognised by the government.
