Aslam Sher lashes out
at K P S Gill

Former India hockey Olympian Aslam Sher Khan has charged Indian Hockey Federation chairman K P S Gill with working against the interests of the game, and demanded a white paper on the activities of the federation during his tenure.

"The federation has an annual income of Rs three crore [30 million] but no accounts are being maintained," the former Union minister and Madhya Pradesh unit president of the Nationalist Congress Party said.

He also said the federation has become a hub for retired IPS officers.

"Of the 35 members of the working committee of the IHF, the majority are retired police officers and none is an Olympian."

Khan, who played a major role in India's World Cup triumph in 1975, also alleged that the IHF has only been promoting representatives from Punjab, while players from Bhopal, Mumbai and Chennai are not getting sufficient opportunities.
