HK, Malaysia in semis: Asian snooker

Hong Kong recorded their third straight victory to top Group A and reach the semi-finals of the Asian Cup snooker championship with a clean slate, in Bangkok on Thursday.

Hong Kong whitewashed a lowly UAE 4-0 in the best-of-seven frames match in their last league encounter. They had beaten Pakistan 4-2 in the second match late on Wednesday night.

Malaysia became the second team from the group to qualify for the semi-finals when they defeated Pakistan 4-2 in their last league match on Thursday.

Malaysia had defeated the UAE but lost to Hong Kong in their first two matches.

From Group B, China and Thailand already booked their places in the semi-finals, winning both their league matches. They will play each other in their final league encounter, later on Thursday night, which will decide the semi-final line-up.
