Dhindsa dissatisfied with Olympic showing

Sports minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa on Wednesday said he was dissatisfied with the Indian performance in the Sydney Olympic Games and has asked the Indian Olympic Association and concerned federations to submit a detailed report on it soon.

The minister, however, said the Indian hockey team did reasonably well.

On the controversial match-fixing issue, Dhindsa said the CBI will submit its report this week. He added that those found guilty will not be spared, and legal action will be taken against the erring players.

Dhindsa also revealed that the government is seriously considering setting up a sports university in Patiala, preliminary steps for which have already been taken.

A 'Centre of Excellence' in sports is also being set up at Mohali, in Punjab, where emphasis will be laid on priority games, he disclosed.
