Paes/Bhupathi in semis

India's Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi entered the semifinal of the Japan Open tennis tournament on Friday when they defeated the second-seeded duo of Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden and David Prinosil of Germany in the quarter-finals 6-4, 7-5.

In the semfinals, the Indians will face the qualifer pair of Nicolas Massu of Chile and Andre Sa of Brazil, who edged out the unseeded pair of Brent Haygarth of South Afrcia and Harel Levy of Isreal 6-1, 6-7(1), 6-3 in the quarter-finals on Friday.

Ramesh Krishnan had won the singles title at the Japan Open in 1986.
