Indian pugilists finish with six medals

Services' Verghese Johnson bagged a silver while five of his compatriots claimed a bronze each as India finished with a haul of six medals in the fifth Brnandenburg Cup junior international boxing championship in Frankfurt, Germany, on Tuesday.

In the 81 kgs final, Johnson lost to Germany's Julian Dragendorf on points 4-12.

The bronze medal winners for India were: Khimanand Belwal (48 kg), Dalvir Singh (51 kg), Mujtaba Kamal (54 kg), Parveen Kumar (60 kg) and V. Harikrishnan (60 kg).

In the semi-finals, Services' Belwal lost to Lithunia's Skerlo Rialdas 5-8, while CISF's Dalvir Sigh was outpointed by Poland's Andrezej Nowosada 1-7.

Kazakhstan's Ulan Sautbavev thrashed Bengal's Mujtaba Kamal 13-2, while Haryana's Parveen Kumar went down fighting to Germany's Marcel Kulke 4-6.

Andhra's V Harikrishnan lost to Germany's Nick Klappert 1-5.
