Huge incentive for Haryana sportspersons

Haryana Chief Minister Om Parkash Chautala Friday announced a huge bonanza for state sportspersons winning medals at the Olympics.

Speaking at the Olympic day function at Panchkula, he said Rs one crore will be given to those winning a gold medal at the coming Sydney Games, while those bagging a silver and bronze will get Rs 50 lakh and 25 lakh respectively.

Offering to host the next Asian Games in Haryana, Chautala also announced a raise in the diet allowance for those in training, from Rs 100 to Rs 500 per day, as also the training period from two weeks to four weeks. He said two weeks is too short to prepare for national and internationals meets.
