Karthikeyan finishes third

Indian racing prodigy Narain Karthikeyan raced superbly for a podium finish in the seventh race of the championship, at Brands Hatch.

Narain, India's Formula 3 champion, raced his Kingfisher, Ford, JK Tyres, Mobil, SatyamOnline.Com and Tata branded Stewart Racing Dallara to third place, along with Antonio Pizzonia and Takuma Sato (who came first and second respectively).

Ben Collins (the pole sitter) blocked Narain’s progress in the initial stages. This brought Narain’s grit and superb car control to the fore. Narain brought the British crowd to cheer for him, when he raced passed Ben Collins in an excellent manoeuvre and fought back to regain his position among the top three. Narain kept on the pressure on Takuma Sato right till the very last lap, leaving the backmarkers far behind and finishing a creditable third.

Narain thus earned 12 more valuable championship points and increased his tally to 56, to remain in third place in the championship.

In the process, he rewarded himself with a well-deserved rest for a couple of weeks, in India, during which he will reiterate his thanks to his sponsors for the support they have shown him.
