'King' Anand to take on Spain's 'queen'

World number two Viswanathan Anand, who has, as per FIDE's latest ratings, earned a further 25 ELO points, will play an exhibition match against the current Spanish women’s chess champion in the town of Vera (Almeria) in Spain.

According to a fax message from Anand’s sponsor TNQ Sponsorship India (Pvt) Ltd, the match will be held along with the third edition of the Princie de Pontremoli chess tournament there.

The matches have been organised to attract attention to Vera's candidature to host the Mediterranean Games in the year 2005.

Anand will also address the opening ceremony of the Spanish Women's Chess Championships. Later, the 28-year-old Indian grandmaster will play an exhibition match against 30 young chess fans from Almeria.
