World Cup Sid's day out in Durban

I begin my second day in Durban, with a mission to get a World Cup look.

And what better way than an Afro hairdo to look like the locals.

Location: Capelli's.

Tradition becomes religion across the Hindu world

As I drive through Durban, the Indian homes, with their distinct paint colours to demarcate ownership -- even though they share the same wall -- and Hindu prayer flags are pointed out to me.

A puja is held every year after which these flags are hoisted. They flutter away to spread good karma and prayers, much like my friends in the Himalayas. Strange how tradition becomes religion across the Hindu world.

Topography of Durban undulating

The topography of Durban is very undulating, with drivers needing skill on its many steep slopes.

From the top of this road, we get a great view of Durban on our way to the Fan Park

Festive atmosphere near Fan Park

With the backdrop of Durban's Town Hall, the sounds and vibes become more festive as we near the Fan Park.

Indian fans ready for the action

Set for the show

Fantastic atmosphere

This crowd had the cheap seats, with the huge screen, at least 150 metres away.

Entry to a fan park across South Africa is free, with live sound and light shows, plenty of food and drink, high security at their entry points.

And, a fantastic atmosphere guaranteed.

Bafana Bafana score

Bafana Bafana score! All hell breaks lose.

To score against France... history!

No excuse to party

South Africans need no excuse to party. And when they DO have a reason.

Well, let the picture speak!

Beautiful day

Think U2 concert.

Massive stage, with world-class sound and lights.

Think U2 concert crowd, spread over an entire beach. This time the band performing is asked to leave the stage and a giant screen takes over.

It truly is a beautiful day!

Bafana doing the impossible

Bafana score again!!

The impossible seems possible.

When you're the host nation, impossible is nothing

The celebration is intoxicating.

Two more goals required against France. Piece of cake.

When it's the World Cup and you're the host nation, impossible is nothing.
