Manchester United players celebrate after winning the English Premier League at Old Trafford, in Manchester, on Saturday.

United captured their 18th English league title after securing the point they needed in a 0-0 draw at home to Arsenal.

It was a subdued display by United but the celebrations began as the final whistle sealed a hat-trick of titles and moved them alongside Liverpool as England's most crowned club.

Ronaldo did not score as many goals as last season but his deadball magic and his often overlooked work-rate far outweigh his theatrics after he has been fouled.

With the Club World Championship, the League Cup and the Premier League all won, United will be seeking to retain the Champions League title when they face Barcelona in the final in Rome on May 27.

Barcelona can make it a treble by defeating Manchester United in the Champions League final in Rome on May 27.

"The first person I have congratulated is [coach] Pep Guardiola, and I sent a message to the whole squad," Barca president Joan Laporta said.

"They have had a magnificent season, one of the best in Barcelona's history. I am convinced they can achieve even more this season, for example, the league record of 107 goals scored."

Barca have scored 103.

Inter Milan's coach Jose Mourinho celebrates on the bus after they won their 17th Italian Serie A title, in Milan.

Inter Milan retained their Serie A title with three games to spare after second-placed AC Milan put in a weak performance to lose 2-1 at Udinese.

Inter's triumph, in former Chelsea coach Jose Mourinho's first season in charge, is their fourth straight scudetto and their 17th overall.

Inter Milan players were so excited by clinching the Italian title that they took an impromptu open top bus to the city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Inter, who still have three games left to play, were supposed to celebrate at their training ground but made a late decision to take a bus to Piazza Duomo, the city's main square, where thousands of flag-waving fans were waiting.

Mourinho has now won titles with Porto, Chelsea and Inter.

"I'm a bit angry because the team should already be in bed but they have decided to take the bus and go to Milan. But I understand their desire to celebrate," he joked.

Inter have now joined Milan on 17 Italian titles with Juventus leading the way on 27.

The first championship in Inter's run of four was given to them in a court room after Juve were stripped of the 2006 title in Italy's match-fixing scandal.
