Sutil given five place grid penalty

October 24, 2010 19:05 IST

As if not finishing the race at the Korean Grand Prix was not enough, Force India's Adrian Sutil was on Sunday handed a five-place grid penalty, carrying into next month's Brazillian GP.

FIA stewards punished Sutil for colliding with BMW Sauber's Kamui Kobayashi at Turn Four on Lap 47. He was additionally fined USD 10,000 after admitting he had been aware of brake problems throughout the race.

"I was just struggling with my brakes all the time. I had so much brake force that I always locked up and it was hard to drive consistently. There were a lot of times I was off the circuit, or locked up, and then got past a driver and went off the road," Sutil said.

Toro Rosso's Sebastien Buemi was also handed the same penalty for causing an avoidable accident when he collided with Virgin's Timo Glock at Turn Three on Lap 30.

The Swiss driver has already apologised to Glock, saying, "I braked late and locked the front wheels, so I could not turn and ended up going straight on and hitting Timo. I am sorry for him."

The Brazilian Grand Prix will be held in Interlagos from November 5-7.
