October 06, 2010 16:38 IST

India's shooters continued their good showing to strike three more gold medals at the Dr Karni Singh shooting range in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi, on Wednesday.

Anisa Sayyed, Gagan Narang and Omkar Singh topped in their events to help India win three straight golds on Wednesday.

Sayyed won the gold medal in the women's 25 metres pistol event to complete a unique double after she had won the gold in the Pairs 25 metres pistol event along with Rahi Sarnobat on Tuesday.

Sarnobat bagged the silver as she registered a final score of 781 after scoring 205 in the final round, while Malaysia's Pei Chin Bibiana took the bronze with a score of 778.2.

Gagan Narang got the better of compatriot Abhinav Bindra to win the gold medal and successfully defend his 10 metres Air Rifle men title.

Narang clinched the final round as he shot the best round of 103.6 after he had shot a perfect 600 in the qualifying rounds for a personal and Commonwealth Games record of 703.6.

It remains to be seen whether Narang's record will be ratified by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), who only ratify records set at the Olympics, World Championships and continental sporting meets like the Asian Games.

Narang's previous best was the 703.5, which he achieved at the ISSF World Cup Final in Bangkok in November 2008.

Olympic champion Bindra had to settle for silver as he shot 698, while James Huckle of England took the bronze with 693.5 points.

Narang had topped the qualification with a perfect score of 600 out of 600 followed by Bindra, who had 595 points.

Narang shot consistent scores of 10.6, 9.6, 10.6, 10.3, 10.8, 10.0, 10.6, 10.6, 10.3 and 10.2 in the final series, while Bindra managed 9.2, 10.5, 10.6, 9.7, 10.3, 10.7, 10.4, 10.5, 10.7 and 10.4.

Omkar bagged the third straight gold medal for India in shooting when he won the men's 50 metres Pistol final.

The Indian finished first with a tally of 623 ahead of Singapore's duo Bin Gai (621) and Swee Hon Lee (616.3).
