Kalmadi slips up: Prince Diana attended CWG opening

After his faux pas in the inaugural show on Sunday, the slip of the tongue seems to be continuing for Commonwealth Games [ Images ] Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi [ Images ], who said "Prince Diana" attended the event's opening ceremony.

Giving details on the "spectacular" opening ceremony, Kalmadi told a press conference that "Prince Diana" attended the function, where he was to say "Prince Charles".

Princess Diana [ Images ], who died in an accident in 1997, and Prince Charles had a divorce.

At the opening ceremony, Kalmadi had addressed former President A P J Abdul Kalam [ Images ] as Abdul Kalam Azad. Abul Kalam Azad was a freedom fighter.

Kalmadi said the opening ceremony was watched in all the 71 Commonwealth countries.

"Networks in the United States also showed the opening ceremony," he added.
