Indian eves qualified for the semi-finals of the squash team event despite a 0-3 drubbing at the hands of Hong Kong while the Saurav Ghosal led men's team made the last-four grade of the Asian Games with a crushing 3-0 win over South Korea in Guangzhou.

The women team advanced to semi-finals courtesy their second place finish behind Hong Kong in Pool B.

They face Pool A topper Malaysia in the semi-finals on Wednesday.

The men's team came up with a fine show to be on top of the table in pool B. They are scheduled to play Malaysia in their last league encounter later in the day and the outcome of that match will decide their next opponent team.

India and Malaysia, sitting second, are tied on 12 points but are on top because of better game win-lose difference.

In the women's match, Dipika Pallikal had the unenviable task of giving India a positive start but the Indian failed to get it across Chiu Wing Yin and lost 8-11, 11-9, 10-12, 5-11 in a tough battle, lasting close to an hour.

Joshana Chinappa then crossed swords with Annie Chi Wing Au but the Hong Kong player was much superior than the Indian as she notched up a comfortable 11-7, 11-7, 11-9 victory in 27 minutes.

In the third match, Anaka Alankamony fought a gallant battle against Chan Ho Ling before going down 9-11, 11-6, 8-11, 6-11 to her rival.

Earlier, Siddharth Nimesh Suchde started the proceeding for India in the men's team event, brushing off Joon Seung Joon 11-6, 11-6, 11-6 in 37 minutes.

Indian number one player Ghosal then sent Ho Nyeon Lee packing with a 11-5, 11-7, 11-6 win in 28 minutes to give India an unassailable 2-0 lead.

In the last encounter, Sandeep Jangra saw off Seungtaek Lee 11-9, 11-8, 13-11 in a 30-minute battle to give India a comfortable win.
