Defending champions Leander Paes and Lucas Dlouhy stormed into the quarterfinals of the French Open doubles event after a straight set victory over Santiago Gonzalez and Travis RettenMayer in Paris on Monday.

The third seeded Indo-Czech pair defeated their unseeded opponents - Mexican Gonzalez and American RettenMayer - 6-3, 6-4 in an 82-minute third round match at the Roland Garros in Paris.

In the quarterfinals, Paes and Dlouhy play the winner of the match between Frenchmen Thierry Ascione and Laurent Recouderc and Polish pair of Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski.

Paes, who is the lone surviving Indian in the clay court Grand Slam event, has also reached the second round of the mixed doubles events in company of Cara Black of Zimbabwe.

Meanwhile, Rohan Bopanna and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi's doubles campaign was cut short in the second round with a straight-set defeat against local pair of Julien Benneteau and Michael Llodra.

The unseeded Indo-Pak pair lost the men's doubles clash 5-7, 3-6 to the 15th seed local favourites.

Bopanna and Qureshi could not earn a single break chance and dropped their serve once each in both the sets.

Mahesh Bhupathi has already crashed out of the men's doubles and mixed doubles while Somdev Devvarman had lost in the singles first round.
